How much hot tubs weigh

A drained six-person tub is 500 to 900 lb.

The rule that catches people

Has to be cut up. No hauler will take a whole tub, and it will not fit through the door of a roll-off intact.

Worth knowing. A reciprocating saw through the shell in quarters is an afternoon. Pull the pump and heater first; those are scrap metal.

The cheaper route, if you have one

Junk removal crews charge $300 to $600 to take one whole, which is often the better trade.

Getting it ready

Drain it completely first, including the pipework, because the water alone is several hundred gallons and would put it over the weight allowance on its own. Then cut the shell into panels with a reciprocating saw. The cover is worth handling separately, since a waterlogged one can weigh more than a person and is awkward enough to injure somebody.

Mention it when you book rather than after. It costs nothing declared and costs more found. See what else fits in a 20 yard.
