Roll-off dumpsters come in five common sizes. The number is cubic yards of volume — not weight — and weight is what usually decides the final bill.

Volume is not the constraint — weight is
Every rental includes a fixed weight allowance, typically 2 tons, and everything over it is billed by the ton at a median of $80. A 20-yard can hold far more shingles by volume than its weight allowance covers, which is why a roof tear-off often costs more than the listed price suggests. Ask what the allowance is before you book, not after.
